1st place finishes at the USA Climbing Division 1 Championships
Scott Cory scored a tremendous victory recently, pulling out two 1st place finishes at the USA Climbing Division 1 Championships. The competition was held in Sacramento the weekend of June 13 & 14. The Division 1 Championships incorporates the top climbers from Northern California, Nevada, Alaska, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Montana and Wyoming. The wins earned Scott an invitation to the USA Climbing National Championships, to be held the second weekend of July in Utah.
Scott is currently a member of the USA Climbing National Team, and will be trying to earn a spot on The Team once again. If he pulls off a top four finish in Difficulty at Nationals he’ll be on his way to the biggest competition of the year, the World Championships, held in France at the end of August. Scott already has his invitation for Speed Climbing at Worlds, after winning the Speed climbing competition at the North American Continental Championships (competitors from the USA, Canada & Mexico) held late last year in Canada.
Scott continues to push himself in his climbing endeavors. He recently climbed his hardest route to date, Flower Power, 5.14b at Jailhouse in California. Scott graduated from high school in 2008. He has taken a year off from school to pursue his dream of climbing as much as he possibly can, everywhere he possibly can. His adventures have taken him to Thailand, Peru, Australia, Spain, Egypt, Mexico, Hong Kong and Canada. He’s living his dream, and having a blast doing it. He’ll spend the next month climbing throughout Utah and Colorado, before leaving on an extended climbing trip to Europe. After that it’s a trip down the Amazon River. Life is good.
