BOREAL has been invited to the launch of DME Award Jesús García Francés, director of Marketing dpt. of BOREAL, participated last June 7th, 2007 at the presentation of the DME Award (Design Managment Award) at the City of Eindhoven in Holland. BOREAL has been invited to the launch of DME Award as the first awarded company in Europe (small / medium categories) of the EDMA, European Design Managment Award in November 2001. Following the Made It Project in 2001, that culminated with the EDMA (European Design Management Award), EDC, together with 17 European partners has started a new European Project that, for the next two years, will establish not only a new and sustainable European Award (Design Management Europe Award) but a series of activities at aim at raising the design awareness of European SME's. Workshops, International Congresses, an international Survey and a travelling exhibition are only a few of the components of this Project.

The Award ceremony 2007 will happen in Essen, Germany, in November and a second edition is also underway to be held in Cardiff, Wales, in October 2008. On the day of the official Launch, on June 7th 2007, the first nominees for the 2007 edition of the DME were revealed and DM experts such as Mike Press from Dundee University in Scotland, Wally Olins from Safron Consultants and Stefano Marzano from Philips Design unfolded new ideas in Design Management. Jesús García as winner of the EDMA in 2001, was invited to join these speakers and show the adience why Calzados Boreal hs already been distinguised as one of the best examples of DM in Europe. The EDMA has been the inspiration for this new approach to DM and the ones that have been the stars in that competition have set the standards for the DME Award. There was also the presence of the Ziga Turk, Minister for development of the Republic of Slovenia, Reinhard Bücher, from the DG Enterprises in the European Commission and Alexander Sakkers, mayor of the City of Eindhoven, host of the Official Launch of the DME award. A design experience including a buffet especially designed by Katja Gruijters followed the official program where guests had the opportunity to network with entrepreneurs, designers and businesses community from across Europe.
