Pamir test in Backpacker magazine.
Can a mountaineering boot be decadently comfortable? Yes, says our
tester after taking these heavyweights out of the box and marching
them up Utah´s 11,000-foot Boulder Mountain. With a high shaft,
Thinsulate insulation, and rigid,
crampon-compatible soles, the Pamir is
most at home on steep alpine terrain. But a decent rocker, a touch
of forefoot flex, and supple fabric/leather uppers make them suitable
for heavy-duty mountain trekking as well. The sole sticks great
on wet rocks, a rarity in this class.
Choose these if you need the warmth -but not the clunk - of an insulated
double boot. Best for medium to wide feet.
