Dani Andrada has given 9b (5.15b) to a link-up he has completed in the Alí Baba cave at Rodellar, Spain.
The new climb adds a sit start to the Alí Hulk Extension,
creating the longest link-up in the low-ceilinged cave, where lines
often are climbed without a rope but are given a route rating because
of their length.
In mid-September, Andrada completed an extended version of Alí Hulk and called it 9a+ (5.15a). Dave Graham, who has confirmed the shorter Alí Hulk at 9a (5.14d), said the sit start goes at V14. In other words, a V14 start has been added to a 5.15a route. Graham blogged that “the V14 low start to the Ali Hulk is something not to f*** with, very hard. It makes that 5.15c at the least.” Is it possible that Andrada is just being conservative?
